Looking through past articles in the Boston Globe, I found this one from November of 2003, written the day after the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts legalized same-sex marriages in the Commonwealth. Reading through this is so strange. The unexpectedness of such a decision is clear and the fear of a constitututional amendment to ban the practice is palpable in the words. Five years later, marriage equality has over 80% support in the Massachusetts legislature. And Massachusetts is no longer the left-wing extremeist state as five other states have also joined Massachusetts in granting equal rights for all of their citizens. It’s remarkable how far we’ve come.
Far From It.
Marriage Equality in 2003.
